Andrew is involved in individual piano tuition to youngsters aged 6 and over. He marvels at the enthusiasm and determination of the boys and girls as they progress in their piano studies. Andrew’s lessons motivate and challenge young learners whilst always giving them fun. Parents are given feedback on progress on each lesson with take home ideas to practice and an annual summary report.
School Piano Lessons
Piano Lessons take place in school on a weekly basis at four primary schools – Sessay C of E Primary School, South Kilvington C of E Primary School, Topcliffe C of E Primary School and Sowerby Community Primary School. Lessons last 20 minutes and children have their lessons at different times during the morning or afternoon to ensure they don’t miss the same lesson each week. Andrew uses the school piano and regularly, children taking piano lessons, are encouraged to perform in assembly where parents are invited to enjoy the progress that their child has made.
Home Teaching in Ripon
Andrew also teaches from his music room at his home in Ripon as well as giving lessons in private homes by special arrangement. He teaches both children and adults and can offer 30 minute lessons at convenient times in the afternoon and evening during term time.
Piano Practice
Piano practice is key to good progress in playing the piano. As a minimum, 60 minutes is needed between lessons to improve playing techniques and to be ready for learning the next steps at the following lesson. As well as the red practice diary with helpful tips on what to practice, piano students can also learn by trying the following recommended piano apps.
